Is faith relevant for life & learning at OSU?

Carmen House Winter Symposium is an annual gathering of various events and audiences in the university community, exploring the possibility of the relevance of faith in Christ for life and learning at Ohio State. The symposium brings together people from diverse backgrounds to promote dialogue around the questions that matter.

An Afternoon Tea | What is Vocation?

Christians tend to use the word vocation interchangeably with one’s job. But is there more to it?

Dr. Steven Garber, author of Visions of Vocation: Common Grace for the Common Good will join us for a discussion about what it means to have a vocation in God’s world.

Faculty Roundtable: What is an Integrated Life?

We will consider questions like:

  • Does specialization within higher education lead to disconnected, fragmented knowledge?

  • In what ways is life in our world fragmented?

  • Does one’s religious faith hinder or contribute to an integrated life?

  • Is disciplinary fragmentation within the university a symptom or cause of a broader societal fragmentation?
